Ailene Ellen (Clark) Peva, 83. of Plainfield, passed away April 26, 2018. She was born March 23, 1935 to the late Glen M. and Ruth (Halstrom) Clark in Rockford, IL. In her youth the family moved to Florida and Ailene grew up in New Smyrna, FL, where, at age sixteen she was named "Miss New Smyrna Beach". She later moved to Plainfield, IN to live with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Clark. In 1953 she married James R. Peva of Plainfield, and they had three children, Mary Ellen, Rebecca Ann and Catherine Sue. Ailene was employed for twenty years by the Twinn-K Corp. near Bridgeport, IN, retiring in 1992. A housewife and devoted mother and grandmother, she was a member of the Plainfield Christian Church. In retirement Ailene joined her husband in their hobbies of camping and genealogy, traveling to New England, and especially to Maine, many times in search of Peva ancestors. She also enjoyed outdoor bluegrass music festivals, and she and her husband were regular attendees at those events in Brown County, IN for over fifty years. Ailene is survived by daughters Rebecca Hardy, and Catherine Peva; a brother Edward Clark and a sister Linda; grandchildren, James Shelby (Cassie) Wyatt and Lucas and Hannah Hardy; and great grandchildren, Isaiah, Macie, Addie, and Brixlee. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ellen Meeks. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 30, 2018 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Monday from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm. Entombment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Plainfield Christian Church.
