Vivian Parnell Hanes, 100, Bradenton, FL, formerly of Indianapolis, widow of Lawrence (Larry) Allen Hanes, passed away in Bradenton, FL on October 5, 2010. She was the daughter of Harry G. and Mae (Foltz) Parnell Rhodes and the sister of Evelyn Parnell Bryan all of whom have preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hanes was born August 9, 1910 in Indianapolis, IN. Her first twelve years of education were in the Ben Davis Schools. After graduation she attended DePauw University, Indianapolis Teachers College, I.U., and earned her BS degree in education at Butler University. She taught primary grades in Wayne and Decatur Townships for 25 years. She loved children and worked with Junior High School girls as a volunteer with the YWCA day camp program and Girl Reserve Clubs for 10 years. She was active in the United Methodist Churches at Speedway, Ruskin, FL, and Sun City Center, FL. Graveside services and inurnment will be at 10:30 AM Saturday November 6, 2010 in the chapel in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
