Billy Dayrel West

Billy Dayrel West, 88, of Plainfield, passed away August 15, 2010. He was born May 20, 1922 to the late Charles and Elsie (Fields) West in Liberty, IN. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, where he served in the South Pacific. He was a salesman for Union Carbide/Prax Air where he received the top salesman award many years. He retired in the 1990's after 42 years. He was a lifetime member of both the Liberty VFW and American Legion. He was also a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, 1290 S. Center St., Plainfield, where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, August 19, 2010. He is survived by his daughter, Terri (John) Solomon; a son, Larry R. (Barbara) Baker II; 3 grandchildren, Steven (Star) and Corey L.(Heidi) VanDevanter, and Spencer Solomon; and 4 great grandchildren, Emily, Corey N.,Stevi Marie, and Gentry VanDevanter. He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria (Heath) West. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to the Calvary Baptist Church Missions. Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
