Dorothy A. Berlin

Dorothy A. Berlin, 84, of Mooresville, passed away May 16, 2010. She was born September 3, 1925 to the late Emmett and Anna (Gardner) Hardin in Indianapolis, IN. She graduated from the Methodist School of Nursing and was a R.N. for 46 years and worked at Millers Merry Manor in Mooresville as an In Service Director from 1979-93 when she retired. She was a member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the Plainfield OES # 414 and a Pink Lady volunteer at Hendricks and St. Francis Hospitals. Dorothy is survived by a son, Dan J. (Esther) Root; a daughter, Laura M. (Jack) Kurkowski; a step daughter, Brenda L. Berlin; 4 step sons, Richard, Danny, Roger, and Lindy Berlin; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Jack B. Root, and Charles "Denny" Berlin; and a daughter, Donna K. Root. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday May 19, 2010 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 18. Burial, Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Contributions may be made to The Gathering Together.
