Charles Leon Gipson

Charles Leon Gipson, 76, of Sebring, FL. formerly of Plainfield, IN. passed away December 8, 2009 in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring, FL. Leon was born May 12, 1933 in Indianpolis to the late Robert Jesse and Dora Gertrude Gipson. He retired from Circle B Company after having 25 years in the Carpenters Union Local 758. His other memberships include Plainfield Eagles Lodge # 3207 and the Mooresville VFW. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. After moving to Sebring, FL. 4 years ago he and his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley, both enjoyed a life on the water, fishing and boating. A funeral service will be Tuesday, December 15, at 7:30 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call from 4:00 pm until the time of service on Tuesday. He was preceded in death by a son, Bob Gipson. Survivors include his wife, Shirley (Hinshaw) Gipson; daughter, Margo (Bob) Freewalt; brother, Virgil Gipson; sisters, Myrtle Walker, Lola Edwards, Mable Cline, Sue Hawkins, Joyce Griffith and Shirley Robbins; 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
