Ellajean Gibbs

Ellajean (Harlan) Gibbs, 91, of Plainfield, IN. passed away October 5, 2009. She was born September 23, 1918 in Hadley, IN. to the late Otho and Maggie Harlan. She was one of 5 children; 2 brothers, Glen and Leo Harlan and 2 sisters, Betty Morphew and Marjorie Springer. She married Francis W. (Jim) Gibbs, who preceded her in death on January 18, 2009. They were married on December 10, 1939, and shared their lives together for 69 years. She was a homemaker and "stay at home mom" raising the family until her husband bought the John Deere dealership in Mooreville, In. where she was an integral partner. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of Gideons, Martinsville Chapter, where she often passed out Bible's to doctors offices, schools and nursing homes. A funeral service will be Thursday, October 8 at 6:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Cartersburg, IN. Survivors include 7 children, Francis Jean Daum, Diana Barkley, Judy Tallent, Jay H. Gibbs, Terry L. Wright, Dennis D. Gibbs and Richard Allen Gibbs; 2 sisters, Betty Morphew and Marjorie Springer; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
