Katherine Summerlin

Katherine T. Summerlin, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away March 4, 2017. She was born December 22, 1926 to the late James and Ellen (Hasty) Thompson in Laurinburg, NC. She received her BA in Education from Woman's College of North Carolina. She taught for many years before becoming a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of the Savior United Methodist Church. Katherine is survived by three sons, Don (Nancy), Scott (Donna), and Brad (Susan) Summerlin; two daughters, Laura (Jeff) Macri and Leithia (John) Whited; a sister, Grace Royster; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jack D. Summerlin and a granddaughter, Daisy Lee Summerlin. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 18, 2017 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Saturday from 12 noon until service time at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Clayton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana School of the Deaf, 1200 E. 42nd St., Indianapolis, IN 46205.
