William "Bill" Wooden, 78, of Avon, passed away February 3, 2017. He was born April 7, 1938 in Martinsville, IN to the late Lonnie and Harleen (Cooper) Wooden. Bill attended Monrovia High School and Indiana State University where he played on the basketball teams. He retired from GM Truck and Bus in the welder maintenance department known as "WEMR". Bill was a member of Kingsway Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Robert and Richard Wooden; sister, Gwen Wooden Rutledge; great grandson, Robbie Ahlersmeyer. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 11, at 1:30 pm in Kingsway Christian Church(7981 E County Road 100 N, Avon, IN) where friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall, IN. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Linda (Stedman) Wooden; son, Ronald Wooden; daughters, Amber (Steve) Ahlersmeyer and Dawn (Jim) Boyles; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
