Sarah Lee Taylor

March 22, 1936 — January 20, 2017

Sarah Lee Taylor, 80, of Plainfield, IN, left this earth January 20, 2017 surrounded by many of those she loved and held most dear. Sarah was born March 22, 1936 to Harold L. and Josephine A. (Ricks) Eads in Indianapolis, Indiana. She married Jon Douglas Taylor September 13, 1957, he survives. Sarah was an RN by profession, having graduated from Indianapolis School of Nursing in 1957. Sarah was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and organizer of all things family related. Her joy in life came from her family and worshiping her Lord and Savior. She loved serving in any capacity and spent many hours with different committees, and served as church secretary for 12 years at Center Community Church in Plainfield, where she and Jon were members for the last 50 years, and, where she and Jon taught their family about the love of God and about serving and community, through service in church and in local nursing homes. Some of her favorite times came from the holidays and the arrival of all her children and grandchildren and the joy of having everyone under one roof, enjoying together. She loved to crochet and quilt, read cookbooks, but family truly was her favorite hobby. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Josephine Eads, two brothers, Harold and Ricky Eads; one sister, Jeannie Cooper; two sons, Neal and Timothy Taylor. Sarah is survived by her husband, Jon Douglas, one son, Samuel D. (Sheila) Taylor; three daughters, Nancy R. (Wayne) McWhorter, Jennifer G. Taylor, and Amy K. (Matt) Slayten; daughter-in-law, Candy Taylor; seven grandchildren, Andrew D. (Becca) Taylor, Alyssa N. McWhorter, Hannah R. (Craig) Thompson, Logan (Sarah) McWhorter, Marie A. Taylor, Dakota M. A. Huff and Sarah C. Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Brielynn Taylor and Taylor Thompson, Franky and Lena Switzer; one brother, Charles Eads, and many special extended family members. Services will be held at Center Community Church, 5938 S. CR 700 E, Plainfield, January 26, 2017 10:30 A.M. with Ron Hallock conducting the services. Visitation from 4:00-8:00 P.M., January 25, 2017 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Burial will be at West Ridge Park Cemetery, Indianapolis following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
