Phyllis E. Markland

Phyllis E. Markland, 83, of Indianapolis, (and formerly of Leesburg FL for 21 years), passed away January 15, 2017. She was born March 1, 1933 to the late Fred and Clara (Haug) Nichols in Acton, IN. She was a 1951 graduate of Franklin Township High School. She married Herbert S. Markland in 1954. She was a clerk for the Marion County Sheriffs Department for 16 years retiring in 1990. Phyllis is survived by two sons, Scott K. (Becky) and Craig S. (Lisa) Markland; a sister, Rosie Newbold; 5 grandchildren, Tiffany (Dave) Mahlan, Dustin (Chelsie) Markland, Cristina, Cody and Kyle Markland; and three great grandchildren, Griffin and Chloe Mahlan and Jaxson Markland, plus another great granddaughter on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert S. Markland. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2017 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Friday from 5:30 pm until service time at 7:00 pm. A private inurnment will be held at Washington Park North Cemetery, Indianapolis. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
