Howard K. Pedigo

Howard Kenneth Pedigo, 84, of Plainfield, Indiana passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, Jan 12, 2017. Howard was born Aug 5, 1931 in Charleston, IL to the late Clarence and Cecil (Elliot) Pedigo. He was noted in Who’s Who in the World 15th edition for his many achievements. Howard earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Rose Poly Institute (Rose Hulman) in 1953 and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He served as a 1st Lieutenant for the United States Army, 1953-1955. He earned his M. B. A. from Ohio State University in 1963. Howard joined the workforce as a Stress Analyst for Bendix Corporation 1955-1961, went on to become a Project Manager for TRW Corporation, Cleveland 1961-1963. He was Executive Vice President, Universal Tank & Iron Company, Indianapolis from 1964-1985, and Chief Engineer, Indiana Department of Natural Resources 1985-1995. Howard served as Chairman, United Way of Hendricks County in 1973, and was on the Board of Directors, United Way Greater Indianapolis from 1975-1977. Howard was a member, with his wife Mary Kay, at Plainfield Christian Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his workshop. He made many pieces of fine furniture used not only in their home, but also for family members. He was a member of the Elks Club and was an avid golfer. Howard was a frequent visitor of the Plainfield Public Library as he loved to read. Howard was a quiet man with a dry, quick wit that could always leave you laughing. He loved yard work and was always proud of his lush green lawn. Memorial services will be Wednesday, January 18, at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may call from 11:00 am until time of service. Howard is survived by his loving wife, Mary Kay; children, Susan Avery, Cheryl Ramirez, Gail Emge, Lisa Krauza, Robin Church, and John Jay Pedigo; and grand-children Claire, Jenna, Deanna, Alicia, Olivia, Ossie, Rachel, Jacob, and Katie.
