Ernest A. Heifner

Ernest A. Heifner, 82, of Stilesville, passed away January 9, 2017. He was born on February 9, 1934 in Potosi, MO to the late Charles Heifner and Grace (Morgan) Kerns. Ernest was an United States Army Veteran. He was a mechanic for Indianapolis Public Transit Corporation, Ryder, Carter Van Lines and Schneider Trucking. Ernest retired from South Bend Medical. He was a member of the Larrabee Lodge #131 and the F Troop Freedom Riders. Ernest was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be Friday, January 13, at 11:00 am in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may call on Thursday, January 12 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Masonic services will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday during visitation. Burial will be at Center Valley Cemetery, Belleville, IN. Survivors include his wife, Leona Heifner; daughters, Brinda (Dan) Howard and Charlotte Sharpe; sister, Gladine Koester; grand daughter, Brandy (Michael) Fair; great grandsons, Bradyn and Nathaniel Fair.
