Michael Ray Underwood, 67, of Greenwood, went home to be with the Lord on November 18, 2016. Faith, Honesty, Courage, and Wisdom were the pillars of Mike’s life. His goal was to teach these foundation principles to anyone who came into his presence. For over 40 years, he worked as a teacher, principal, and educational leader in the Plainfield Community School Corporation. Long before the movies made it popular, Mike would walk the hallways in the morning praying for the students, faculty, staff, and parents. He had many titles: principal, teacher, counselor, and mentor, but the ones he counted precious were: son, nephew, husband, father, stepfather, grandpa, and friend. He was active in church leadership throughout his life and most recently attended Village Bible Church, in Greenwood, IN. He had a penchant for finding the intrigue and beauty in everything and as a result, there were a multitude of hobbies. Some of his favorites included: woodworking, live music, and historical reenactments, but, he had a passion for reading and journaling. He was a wonderful husband, incredible father, and devoted family man. In all areas of his life, Mike found a way to honor and glorify his Heavenly Father. Mike was preceded in death by his mother Laura May Underwood. Survivors include his wife Beth (Weber) Underwood, sons Timothy Underwood (Crystal), Matthew Underwood (Laura); step-sons Jacob Weber and Joshua Weber (Krista); his previous wife Elizabeth (Richardson) Dohogne; his father Eddie Ellis Underwood, uncle Norman Underwood, and eight grandchildren Andrea, Abigail, Allison, Lucas, Magdalyn, Lincoln, Miana, and Elynor. A Celebration of Mike’s life will begin with visitation on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Plainfield Christian Church, 800 Dan Jones Rd, Plainfield, . The Celebration will continue with formal services on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 10:00am at the same location. Graveside services will immediately follow at Clayton Cemetery.
