Janet Bowman Long

Janet Bowman Long, 81, of Carmel, passed away October 10, 2016. She was born July 26, 1935 to the late Russell and Naomi (Buchanan) Bowman in Indianapolis, IN. She was a 1953 graduate of Tech High School. Throughout her life she worked many jobs in retail stores including sales clerk and management as well as being a homemaker. As a Air Force wife she enjoyed traveling and living in many foreign countries. She was a member of the Carmel United Methodist Church. Janet is survived by two sons, Larry (Mindy), and Tom C. (Kari) Long; a brother, Richard E. Bowman; 5 grandchildren, Justin (Jennifer) Long, Jarred Long, Micah Long, Abby (Kiefer) Honeycutt, and Clayton Long and a great grandson, Jackson Long. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Long Jr. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Funeral services will be at 11:30 am on Friday, October 14 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Contributions may be made to the Humane Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
