Helen Marie Doran

Helen Marie Doran, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away September 30, 2016. She was born December 5, 1923 to the late Joe and Flora (Mayo) Mitchell in Morristown, TN. She worked in the Analyst Material Control Department at Allison's for 33 years retiring in 1980. While working at Allison's she met John M. Doran, who she later married. They were married for 67 years. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2013. Helen was active in volunteer work. She volunteered at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove; delivered meals for the Speedway Meals On Wheels; and worked at the Red Cross Bookmobile. She was a member of the Center Community Church in Plainfield. Helen is survived by a son, Michael E. (Sharon) Doran; a brother, Victor Mitchell; two sister-in-laws, Mary Palmer and Kay Mitchell; three grandchildren, Tracy (Tom) Beaumont, Brett (Shawna) Doran and Ryan (Virginia) Doran; and 8 great grandchildren. Helen also leaves behind nieces Susan Apple, Cathy McCullars and Sandy Manning and nephews Joe Mitchell and Randy Mitchell who were a very important part of her life. Funeral services will be held at the Center Community Church, 5938 S. County Road 700 E. at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, and where friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 pm until service time at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in West Newton Cemetery.
