Thomasita R. Russell

Thomasita "Tomi" Rose Johnson Tolen Russell, 85, of Lebanon, IN, passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2016. She was born to Loretta and Ethmer Johnson on October 2, 1930 in Lafayette, IN. Tomi was Postmaster for the US Post Office from 1962 until retirement in 1985. She also worked as the manager for the Plainfield BMV for 9 years retiring in 1994. She was former President of the National Woman’s Democratic Association and an active member of the Red Hats Society and NARFE. Tomi was a world traveler and spent her winters in Florida. She is preceded in death by her 2 husbands, Flavian Tolen and Hubert Russell, and son, Todd Tolen. She is survived by children: Kurt (Jane) Tolen, Dawn Tolen, Brad Tolen, Jedd (Karen) Tolen, Jonathan (Denise) Russell, Peter (Melissa) Russell, and Elizabeth Russell; her brother Michael (June) Johnson of Oxford; 19 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Tomi was a devout Catholic and a calling will be held at St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 12 noon to 2:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will follow at 2:00 pm.
