Robert O. Ebert, 84, of Plainfield, passed away July 12, 2016. He was born March 26, 1932 to the late Otto and Esther (Jackson) Ebert in Indianapolis, IN. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for General Motors as a senior accountant for 37 years retiring in 1993. Later he became a realtor and broker for the Ron Matthews Agency. He was a member of the Brookside Masonic Lodge #720, Worthy Patron of OES #481, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Past Monarch of the Sahara Grotto, was on the executive board of the Guilford Township Civic Assn., and the senior golf league at Douglas Park. He was also an avid reader and volunteered for numerous charity organizations. Robert is survived by his wife, Norma J. (Southers) Ebert; three sons, Robert O. (Cheryl) Ebert Jr., Randy and Gregory (Stefanie) Davis; a daughter, Elizabeth E. (Larry) Ulvila; daughter-in-law, Melissa Ebert; three brothers, Richard (Margaret), Bill (Vida) and David Ebert; 5 grandchildren, Trip (Carolyn) Ulvila, Cameron Ulvila, Matthew (Cassie) Ebert, Robert O. Ebert III, Nicholas Ebert, and 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven L. Ebert. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, July 16, 2016 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm on Sunday, July 17 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church (710 E. Buchanan St., Plainfield) of which he was a member. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Plainfield Guilford Township Library.
