Mary Jane Worley

Mary Jane Worley, 94, of Avon, formerly of Plainfield, passed away July 11, 2016. She was born February 24, 1922 to the late Faustin and Blanche (Cummings) O'Brien in Kalamazoo, MI. She was a nurse with the US Army during WWII. She was a nurse at the Indiana Boys School and later at the Indiana Youth Center for 15 years retiring in 1984. She was a founding member of St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield and a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. She volunteered for the National Alliance on Mental Illness as well as the VA Hospital. Mary Jane is survived by two sons, Scott E.(Rose Arant) and John T. Worley; four daughters, Carol A. Lindstrom, Joan M. (Stu) Miller, Patricia E. Hutcheson, and Eileen E. (Kirk) Davies; 6 grandchildren, Heather (Greg Ptaskinski)Worley, Jason (Jennifer) Hutcheson, David (Barbara) Hutcheson, Jennifer (Jake) Pickett, Ryan and Erika Davies; and 5 great grandchildren, Michael Ryan, Jake, Max, and Hailey Hutcheson, and Fiona Ptasinski. She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Worley, and a son, Michael J. Worley. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2016 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 1210 E. Main St., Plainfield. Burial, with military honors, will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
