Merrill "Dave" Green

Merrill D. "Dave" Green, 81, of Clayton, passed away June 3, 2009. He was born to the late Newell and Lola (Bird) Green in Marion, IN. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII serving on the Monterey in the Pacific. In the 1960's he was an electrical inspector in Indianapolis and later started his own self defense school for several years. He worked for the Marion County Sheriffs Department for 4 years. He then became a self-employed electrician retiring in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Cooper) Green; two daughters, Connie Bragg of New Whiteland and Linda Morris of Ninevah; two sons, Davis Green of Coatesville and Larry Oliver of Alexander; 5 stepchildren, Earl Pickerel of Plainfield, Laura Raines of Venice, FL, Selina Clayton of Whitesburg, GA, Jackie Emberton of Greenwood and John Pickerel of Clayton; 8 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, 10 Step-grandchildren and 7 Step great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am June 5, 2009 in Stilesville (IN) Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday June 4 in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
