Karen E. Homeier, 76, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully in her home June 1, 2016 surrounded by loving family members. She was born March 11, 1940 in Chicago, IL to the late Ernest and Adeline Wogen. Karen was a 1957 graduate of Thomas Carr Howe High School. She got her nursing degree from Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing. Karen retired in 1995 as a registered nurse for Community East Hospital. She was a devoted and very active member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. Karen belonged to the PEO Sisterhood and Delta Alpha Gamma Sorority. She was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels. Karen loved her family, friends and would do anything for them at any given moment. They were her life. Memorial services will be Monday, June 6, in Our Shepherd Lutheran Church (9201 E. County Road 100 North) in Avon at 11:00 am, where friends may call from 9:00 am until time of service. Inurnment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Ron Homeier; son, David (Peggy) Homeier; daughter, Debbie (Andy) Montgomery; son, Dan (Lydia) Homeier; brother, Reverend Eric (Sandy) Wogen; sister, Kristy (Arnie) Vandervalk; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the church or St. Vincent Home Hospice.
