Richard "Dick" B. Shumaker

Richard (Dick) B. Shumaker, 85, of Plainfield, IN. passed away May 24, 2009. He was born February 17, 1924 in Crawfordsville, IN. to the late Cleo and Christine Shumaker. Dick was a professional engineer and retired from Indiana University, Bloomington in 1990. Prior to that he worked for Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company for 26 years. He was a graduate of Purdue University. His memberships include Plainfield Christian Church, American Nuclear Society and ASHRAE. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Shumaker. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 28 at 10:30 am in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, where friends may call on Wednesday, May 27 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Charlene Shumaker; son, Craig Shumaker; sister, Marcia LaFrance; grandchildren, Adam, Allison and Brad Shumaker; great grandchild, Anna Vera Lageras. Contributions may be made to the Nature Conservancy.
