Ernest Wade Ward, of Plainfield, passed away at the age of 91. Ernest was fondly known as Doc: "You can call me Doc." Doc was predeceased by his parents, Ralph & Mary, by his wife, Anna Lee and by his niece Emily Jane. Ernest is survived by his brother, Ralph (Mary) Ward of Victoria, BC; two nieces, Sharon (Dwayne) Good and Janet (Eugene) Topic and their families of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Ernest was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and grew up playing along Waskana Creek. For fun, he and the neighborhood children would dig a hole in his mother's garden, roast potatoes and eat them. "Never anything so good" he said. After finishing high school, Ernest attended Normal School to become a teacher. After teaching a year he decided teaching was not for him. He moved to Indianapolis to attend college to become a chiropractor. He like to tell the story of how each student had to have their own "spine" to study. Upon graduating Ernest married his roommate's sister and eventually settled into a successful practice in Plainfield. A small park with a lovely persimmon tree and a picnic bench is located where his office once stood. Doc was a proud member of the Kentucky Colonels, and a favorite hobby of his was trains. We will all miss you, Uncle Ernie. There will be no calling or services. Inurnment will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville, IL.
