James David Hobbs

James David Hobbs, 61, of Plainfield, passed away February 12, 2016. He was born February 17, 1954 in McMinnville, TN. He worked for General Devices Inc. as an engineering manager for 24 years retiring in 2003. He held 12 US Patents. James is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. "Dottie" (Hand) Hobbs; a son, James Evan Hobbs; a daughter, Christina Hobbs; two step-daughters, Rachel (Brian) Pace and Rebecca (Scot) McFarland; his mother, Katie I. (Grimes) Hobbs; a brother, Lonnie (Audrey) Hobbs; two sisters, Teresa (Stanley) Nunley and Wanda (Dave) Wright; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, James C. Hobbs. Funeral services will be at 7:00 pm on Monday, February 15, 2016 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Monday from 5:00 pm until service time at 7:00 pm. A committal service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 16 in the Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
