William J. "Bill" Evans, 91, of Danville, passed away February 9, 2016. He was born February 3, 1925 to the late William J. and Hazel (Oldfield) Evans in Marion, IN. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII, where he received a Purple Heart, WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After the Navy he graduated from Marion College with a double BS degree in Chemistry and Physics. Later he received his Master's Degree in Religion and Theology. He worked for PR Mallory Co. as a chief materials engineer for over 23 years. He was a member of the Hazelwood Christian Church, where he served as an Elder and finance chairman. His volunteer work included the Danville Senior Citizen Center and Taxaide. As a hobby he operated a ham radio. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary A. (Williams) Evans; two grandsons, Seth W. (Patty) Sharp and Kaleb Sharp; and a great granddaughter, Josie Sharp. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Sharp; two brothers, Don and Joe Evans; and twin sister, Betty Evans. Funeral services will be at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 12, 2016 in the Hazelwood Christian Church, 9947 S. County Road 0, Hazelwood, where friends may call on Friday from 4:00 pm until service time at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hendricks County Senior Center, 1201 Sycamore Lane, Danville,IN
