Betty Jean McElroy

Betty Jean McElroy, 83, of Plainfield, passed away February 2, 2016. She was born May 16, 1932 to the late Charles and Minnie (Davis) Gregory in Orlinda, TN. She worked for over 20 years with the Wayne Township Adult Education Department as a para professional/teacher retiring in 2009. She was previously a member of the Plainfield Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. Betty Jean is survived by two sons, Terry J. (Marilyn), and Steve (Theresa) McElroy; a daughter, Cheryl M. Harris; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. McElroy. Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Saturday from 1:00 pm until service time at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Gathering Together in Plainfield or the Indiana Donor Network.
