Leslie Darrell Acton

Leslie Darrell Acton, 82, of Plainfield, passed away January 10, 2016. He was born December 15, 1933 to the late Leslie and Ona Mae (McMullin) Acton in Detroit, MI. He was a 1951 graduate of Plainfield High School and a veteran of the US Navy. He was general manager of Graham Electronics in Indianapolis until 1975. He was then a manufacturer's representative in Consumer's Electronics and retired a a representative for KAR Products in 1994. He was a model train enthusiast. While in the Navy he was stationed on the USS Northampton, and after his discharge he attended many reunions that followed. Darrell is survived by his wife, Barbara J. (Whitaker) Acton; a son, Gregory D. (LaChelle) Acton; a daughter, Sharon Acton Prether; two brothers, Thomas David (Bonnie) and Virgil Lloyd (Marsha) Acton; and three grandchildren, Matthew, MacKenzie and Mitchell Acton. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 16, 2016 in the Plainfield Christian Church (800 Dan Jones Rd.). Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 15 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial, with military honors, will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
