Charles W. Turpin, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away April 14, 2009. He was born November 24, 1916 to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Barker) Turpin in Somerset, KY. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. He was a millwright for International Harvester for 40 years retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Fountain Square Church of Christ. Charles is survived by a son, Willard "Ben" (Lee) Turpin; a daughter, Reida A. (Dick) Simmons; 7 grandchildren, Richard, Steffen, & David (Stacey) Turpin, Alexander and Zachary Simmons, Brenda (Brad) Wright, and Joey (Martina) Turpin; and two great grandchildren, Makenzie and Kaden Turpin. He was preceded in death by his wife Vera (Myers) Turpin and two sons, Joseph and Charles Turpin. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday April 18, 2009 in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Friday April 17. Burial, Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
