Chris Allen Smock, 52, of Beaufort, SC, formerly of Plainfield, IN, passed away January 7, 2016. He was born February 28, 1963 in Indianapolis. He attended IPS School 79 thru 3rd grade then moved to Plainfield where he attended Brentwood Elementary and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1981. He worked in the family electronics business until he joined the Army where he went to Nuclear Missile School and served his enlistment in Europe. He then returned home and worked for several electronic companies designing and installing electronic systems. He owned two patents and was one of five techs with a Masters Programming License from Crestron. He moved to Beaufort, SC after he obtained a position as a programmer for the military in Washington D.C. in 2011. Chris is survived by his wife, Pauli Coffey; a daughter, Shelby Ridge; his parents, Frank and Connie (Carroll) Smock; a grandson, Xavier; stepson, Dominic Coffey; sister, Kathy (Steve) Amonett; niece, Andrea (Jeremy) Kaiser; nephews, Daniel and Anthony (Holly) Amonett; aunts, Patsy (James) Baldwin and Betty Connor; uncle, Harold (Carolyn) Smock; and 11 cousins. Memorial services will be at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Tuesday one hour prior to services.
