Edward "John" LaBan, 73, of Avon, passed away on July 31, 2015 in his home. He was born on April 21, 1942 in Indianapolis to the late Edward Sr. and Mary (Wolfe) LaBan. John worked for Rough Notes Printing for 25 years. He then went to work for Egenolf as a Technical Printing Engineer for 20 years. John was a member of the Local #17 International Printing and Graphics Communication Union where he was a past officer of Local #17, an international delegate for Local #17 and past officer for Allied Printing Trades Union. He was the first member and founder of the Indiana Street Rod Association and a member of Cluster Buster's Car Club, Duck's Unlimited and a 4-H mentor. If you have a street rod, drive it. John was a member of Fairfield Friends Meeting (10441 E. County Road 700 S., Camby) where funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be Thursday, August 6, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Kaye. Survivors include his wife, Dinita (Sowders) Laban; daughters, Pam (Dave) Hancock, Tammy (Mike) Fernandez and Gina (Matt) Singleton; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fairfield Friends Meeting or the Duck's Unlimited of Hendricks County.
