Rev. Msgr. John M. Wright

Rev. Msgr. John M. Wright, Capt, CHC, USN, retired, 78, of San Diego, CA, formerly of Hendricks County, passed away April 11, 2015. He was born September 23, 1936 to the late Oliver Dennis, and Mildred Ellen (Richardson) Wright. He is survived by his sister Phoebe Jane Alfke and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Ellen Keerl and a brother, Dennis Warren Wright. He was ordained on May 6, 1962 at St. Meinrad Seminary. He was appointed Navy Chaplain on May 23, 1967. He was named Monsignor on February 19, 1995. He retired from the Navy on July 1, 1997. In retirement Father was part-time sacramental assistant at parishes in the Diocese of San Diego. He also loved golf and spent time reading and studying the Civil War. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church, 5333 E. Washington St., Indianapolis on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 11:00 am. He will be buried with his parents and with military honors at Stilesville Cemetery. Msgr. Wright (known as Padre to his family) humbly served God for over 50 years and proudly served his country for 30 years!
