William E. Hygh, 85, of Plainfield, passed away June 9, 2015. He was born December 30, 1929 to the late Glenn and Mabel (Hibler) Hygh in St. Joseph, MO. He was a US Navy veteran during the Korean War where he was a radar operator. He worked for GM Truck & Bus Division for 30 years retiring as a General Superintendent in 1987. He was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church, Big Brothers, St. Vincent DePaul Society and AARP as a tax preparer. William is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann (Murtaugh) Hygh. They were married on November 26, 1952 in Springfield, MO. He is also survived by two sons, Mark (Colleen) and Tim (Karen) Hygh; a daughter, Mary Hygh; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Hygh. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield, on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, June 15 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Entombment with military honors will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
