Freddi Jane Imel, 55, Pittsboro, passed away May 30, 2015. She was born January 5, 1960 in Lubbock, Texas to Doyle and Sylvia Champion.
A 1978 graduate of Carmel High School, she played in the Carmel Marching Band. She earned a degree from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park New York. Upon her return to Indiana she became the Chef for The University Club Of Indianapolis where she served for 32 years. She was known far and wide for her hand dipped chocolate truffles. An avid fan of Bethesda Christian Schools, she enjoyed horses and dogs. She also served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Freddi is survived by her husband of 29 years, Dennis Scott Imel, daughter Allie Mae Imel, son Scott Champion Imel, parents Doyle and Sylvia Champion, sisters L. Max Champion and Rossi Ann Champion, stepdaughter Kristen Fuson; three step-grandchildren, and family of Plainfield, and lifelong friend Cindy Buckner. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 4 at Hampton Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, IN. A visitation will immediately follow the service until 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Freddi J. Imel Memorial Fund at any Chase Bank.
