Jack Montgomery, 90, of Plainfield passed away March 6, 2015. He was born April 20, 1924 to the late Elza H. and Tillie Myrtle Montgomery. Jack married his high school sweetheart, Eunice M. Lee, on August 15, 1942. She preceded him in death in 1981. They were both 1942 graduates of Washington High School in Indianapolis. Jack served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 37th Infantry Division in the South Pacific.
He was the owner of Montgomery Super Foods at Lynhurst St. and West Washington St. until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of F&A.M Lynhurst Lodge. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 10, at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, where friends may call from 11:00 am until service time. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Shugart and great grandson, Jourdan Straine. Survivors include his sons, Steve (Rhonda) Montgomery of Greenwood and Gary Montgomery of Plainfield; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
