Conrad (Con) Stephens, 81, of Avon, passed away March 1, 2015. He was born April 18, 1933 in Brazil, IN. He was the only child of the late Sheldon and Mildred Stephens. He lived in Plainfield from 1947 to 1977 and later moved to the Prestwick Country Club and continued to live there since 1977. He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1951 where he was active in baseball, basketball, football, track and cross country. He graduated from Indiana Business College with a certificate in accounting and later graduated from IU with a degree in accounting. He was self-employed as a certified fraud investigator. He was employed 40 years by Indiana Farm Bureau where he was manager of auditing. He served 4 years in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He coached Babe Ruth and Connie Mack baseball in Plainfield for 17 years and was pitching coach at Decatur Central High School in 2009. After retiring, he taught accounting during night school at Ivy Tech for 35 years. He was employed part time at the Indiana Boy's School performing as facility coordinator and mentor to many students. His many memberships and offices were the following: First President of Plainfield Kiwanis Club; Past President of Indiana Farm Bureau Employees Credit Union; Past President of Plainfield Parent-Teachers Association; past member of Indianapolis Downtown Lions Club; current member of National Association of Certified Fraud Investigators; current member and Past President of the National Association of Accountants; current member of Prestwick's Community Services Association; and Past President of Prestwick's Phase One Homeowner's Association. Con married Marilyn Kay Greer in 1990, and she survives him. Also surviving are his children, Kevin Dee (Dusty) Stephens of Greenfield and Vikki Lynn Stephens (Charles Jones) of Brownsburg; step-son, Cory Kumbalek; step-daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Dandini; 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great step-grandchild. Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
