James Anthony McGeney, 82, of Plainfield, passed away February 24, 2015. He was born July 28, 1932 to the late James and Grace (Isenberg) McGeney in Brooklyn, NY. He worked 32 years for Pan American Airlines retiring as a service supervisor in 1987. Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Ann (Hunt) McGeney. He is also survived by a son, James (Dana) McGeney; two daughters, Anne (Jeff) Maher and Maribryan (Ludwik Stephens) McGeney; a sister, Grace Dixon; a bother-in-law, Harvey Fisher; 8 grandchildren, Brian & Kelly Maher, Emily, Olivia and Hunter Lyford, Joseph O'Neill and Alec and Isabel McGeney. He will be missed by many friends including family friend Skip Lyford and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Simmons, Patricia Duffy and Elizabeth Fisher along with his brothers-in-law, Charles Simmons, Luke Duffy, Joseph Dixon and James Hunt. Jim was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus having served as Grand Knight three times and District Deputy. He started a new council in Whiteville, NC and he was also a 4th Degree Knight. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Susanna Catholic Church, Plainfield on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 1:30 pm. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 27 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
