Cecil J. Langdon, 93, of Cartersburg, passed away February 17, 2015. He was born July 8, 1921 to the late John and Mella (Wilson) Langdon in Spencer, IN. Cecil proudly served in the US Navy during WWII on the destroyer, USS MacDonough DD351. He retired after 44 years with Stewart Warner as a machinist. Other times he was an auctioneer, a real estate agent and a farmer. Cecil was also a founding member of the Cartersburg Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Georgia (Nunaley) Langdon. Also preceding him were 2 sisters and 4 brothers. He is survived by children, Geri (Richard) Conway, Jim Langdon, Kyla Doughty, Gail (Bill) Feldman and Jan (Doug) Leach; a brother Frank Langdon; a sister Lola Starnes; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, February 23, 2015 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Sunday, February 22 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Cartersburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the World War II Indy Honor Flight, 9093 S.
