James "Jim" Reed Durell

James "Jim" Reed Durell, 83, of Plainfield, passed away January 16, 2015. He was born May 28, 1931 in Posey County, IN to the late Charles and Edith Durell. Jim was in the Korean War serving in the US Army. He received his undergraduate degree from Indiana State University and a Masters from Butler University. He also was a member of Plainfield United Methodist Church and Plainfield Masonic Lodge #653. Jim retired from Allison Gas Turbine as the Director of Human Resource Management and Training in 1998 after 42 years. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 21, at 10:00 am in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, where friends may call on Tuesday, January 20, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne "Susie" (Spear) Durell; sons, Bruce (Brenda) Durell and David (Laura) Durell; brother, Robert Durell; grandchildren, Jonathan Durell, Mary Kathryn Silver, Julia, Paul and Claire Durell; step grandchildren, Cameron and Andrea Alexander; step great grandchild Bella Frye. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
