Joseph H. Nadin 86, of Plainfield, IN. passed away Sunday afternoon November 16, 2008 surrounded by family and under the compassionate care of Horizon Hospice Care and the Danville, IN. Rehabilitation Center. Born April 23, 1922 to George V. and Grace C. Nadin of Paris, IL. He was preceded by a granddaughter and is survived by his wife of 63 years Kathleen Nadin, his sister Georgeann Hoff of Paris, IL. daughter Patty Ann (Wayne) Zaricor of Surprise, AZ., son Jerry Lee (Sue) Nadin of Plainfield. Also honoring his memory are grandchildren Lindsay Lee (Matt) Philpott and Joseph William Nadin, 3 precious great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. Joe retired from Conrail after forty years with the railroad. He moved his family to Plainfield in 1959 and worked as an engineering draftsman at the Big Four Building in Indianapolis. He served in the Railroad Battalion of the U.S. Army during WWII spending time in the Philippines and Korea. Joe is a member of the Plainfield United Methodist church. During his years in Plainfield he served as counselor, committeeman and Asst. Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 399. Other affiliations included work in the Hendricks County Democratic party, the Lakeland, Florida Village Lakeland Assn. and current membership in the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Visitation will be held at the Hampton Gentry Funeral Home 106 Shaw St. Plainfield, Indiana 46168 in Plainfield, IN. from 4 to 7 Wednesday November 19. Funeral service will be Thursday November 20, 11:00 am preceded by a short visitation at the Plainfield United Methodist Church 600 S. Simmons St. Plainfield, IN. Graveside service and burial is scheduled for 1:00 pm CST at the Edgar County cemetery in Paris, IL.
