Ralph Dunkin Jr., 72, of Plainfield, passed away January 5, 2015. He was born October 20, 1942 to the late Ralph Sr., and Eva (James) Dunkin in Terre Haute, IN. He was a graduate of Garfield High School in Terre Haute. He received his Bachelors Degree from Indiana State University and went on to Ball State University where he received two Masters Degree and a EDS Degree. He served as Assistant Principal at the Greensburg High School and later Assistant Superintendent of the Greensburg School District. Ralph worked for Mussett Nicholas & Associates (MNA) in Indianapolis for 24 years as a Schoolhouse Facility Planner. He retired in 2007. Ralph volunteered and served on several boards including a 4-H Fair Board Member for over 20 years; Sycamore Services Board for over 20 years; the INAFFE Board; and the Plainfield Planning and Zoning Commission and the Plainfield Design and Review Committee . He raised and showed miniature donkeys for over 30 years traveling to many state fairs. The Plainfield Chamber of Commerce was instrumental in sponsoring Ralph and his wife Gerry and their donkeys for a trip to Pasadena for the Tournament of Roses Parade in 2009. Ralph is survived by his wife, Gerry L. Dunkin; a daughter, Natalie S. Dunkin; a sister, Harlean Norris; and a niece, Jayme A. Norris. Funeral services will be held at the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield on Friday January 9, 2015 at 10:30 am, and where friends may call on Thursday January 8 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
