J.R. "Jake" Urshel

J.R. "Jake" Urshel, 86, of Plainfield, passed away November 19, 2014. He was born October 15, 1928 to the late Roy Urshel and Gladys Parrett in Huntington, IN. He worked over 60 years in the construction industry. He worked for H&H Floor Covering and later became a self-employed carpenter for over 30 years retiring in 2004. Jake is survived by his son, Ken R. Urshel; three daughters, Debbie L. (Paul) Downing, Denise Urshel (Doug) Fisher, and Dana Urshel (Paul) Lottes; 4 grandchildren, Abigail Tutorow, Megan Fisher Dear, Mark and Anna Lottes; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Urshel; two grandsons, Paul E Downing Jr. and Timothy James Downing; a brother Bob Lane and a sister, Barbara Hunt. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Kingsway Christian Church, 7981 E. CR 100 N, Avon, where friends may call at the church from 10:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Inurnment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
