Nenita (Nita) C. Powers, 73, Plainfield, went home to be with Jesus on November 16, 2014. She was born in Machete, in the Philippines, on September 18, 1941. Her father, Captain Antonio delaConcepcion, US Army, mother Lisa delaConcepcion, brother, Antonio delaConcepcion, Jr. and sister, Marina delaConcepcion Rosenbaum preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Byron Powers, son Shannon Powers of Avon, daughter Susan (Jeff) Morris of Camby, granddaughters Lydia and Lauren Powers, and grandsons, A.J. and Cameron Morris. Additional surviving siblings include: Jane (Rick) Munsey of Hillsville, VA; Joan (Max) Gardner of Raleigh, NC; Jan (Terry) delaConcepcion of Atlanta, GA; Jeff (Diane) delaConcepcion of Alexandria, VA; Joe delaConcepcion of Burke, VA and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Nita was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School in Alexandria, VA and received a BA in Sociology from IUPUI. She was also a board member of the IUPUI Alumni School of Liberal Arts. She was an active member of Camby Community Church, a sister of the Laureate Beta Lambda Sorority, Plainfield Chapter, and a participant in the Red Hats Society. She was retired from the Target Distribution Center in Indianapolis. In her free time, she loved volunteering her time to help those less fortunate. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Visitation will be at Camby Community Church on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday, November 21 from 10 am until service time at 11:00 am.
