Estel W. Johnson, 95, of Plainfield, passed away November 3, 2014. He was born October 19, 1919 to the late Virgil and Inez (Foster) Johnson in Greene County, IN. He was a graduate of Switz City High School. He entered the US Army during WWII, and during his service he was a member of the Color Guard for the the late General George S. Patton. He was owner/operator of Johnson Transfer for 20 years until 1974. He later worked for Silver-Burdett Co in Indianapolis as a fork-lift operator for 10 years retiring in 1984. Estel is survived by two daughters, Brenda K. Johnson and Janet L. (Arun) Budhiraja; a son-in-law, Max R. Wheeler; a brother, Lee Johnson; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila (Kinnard) Johnson and a daughter, Judy Wheeler. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 6, 2014 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm. Entombment will be in Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
