Audrey Ruth Amos Monaghan of Plainfield died Aug. 27. She was 87. Born March 9, 1927, in Indianapolis, she was a daughter of Lowell E. Amos and step-daughter of Virginia Hauke Amos. Mrs. Monaghan graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1944. She was a homemaker and member of the Saint Cecilia Women’s Choir of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Indianapolis. She worked for the U.S. Federal Probation office for 22 years retiring in 1989. She is survived by sisters, Virginia Franzke of Port Washington, Wis., Carol Dugen of Scottsburg; daughters, Frances Monaghan Ryan (Jerry) and Catherine Monaghan Bailey, both of Indianapolis; sons, Patrick Monaghan (Robin) of Carmel, Indiana, Michael Monaghan (Beth) of Indianapolis, Stephen Monaghan (Stephanie) of Clayton; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Thornberry Monaghan of West Liberty, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Don, Hugh, and Russell Amos; and a son, Timothy J. Monaghan. Visitation will be at 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Hampton Gentry Funeral Home, 106 Shaw Street, Plainfield, IN with a prayer service at 7:30PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Susanna Catholic Church, Plainfield.
