Alfred W. Schenk

Alfred W. Schenk, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away August 9, 2014. He was born August 1, 1924 to the late Wilhelm and Emily (West) Schenk in Indianapolis, IN. He was an US Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Lynhurst Baptist Church. He worked at Conrail as yard master and brakeman for 44 years retiring in 1986. Alfred is survived by a son, Al W. (Linda) Schenk; four daughters, Linda (Phil) Butler, Sandra Burkhart, Mary "Cathy" (Randy) Arsnoe and Sherry Whatley; a sister, Emily Kallal; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine (Crouch) Schenk, a brother, Robert Schenk and a grandson, Andy Burkhart. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 15, 2014 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Friday from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
