Vernon W. "Jack" Long

Vernon W. "Jack" Long, 95, of Plainfield, IN, passed away June 24, 2014. He was born January 5, 1919 to the late Thomas S. and Sarah Frances (Abbott) Long in Belick, KY. He was a US Air Corps veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Plainfield Church of Christ, the Plainfield VFW #379, and the Plainfield American Legion. Jack is survived by his daughter, Kathy J. Long; a son, Mark A. (Linda) Long; three sisters, Betty Dickey, Cecile Thweatt, and Ruth Ann Conger; a granddaughter, Andrea Richardson; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Earline (Prather) Long. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 28, 2014 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Friday, June 27 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
