Donna Kay Root

The family of Donna Kay Root, 54, of Plainfield would like to share news of her passing Thursday evening, July 24, 2008. Donna was surrounded by many family members and friends as she succumbed after a valiant fight against cancer. Donna served as a Property Manager and GSA Employee for the Federal Building in Indianapolis for seventeen years, medically retiring from that position on May 14. She was also a proud veteran of the United States Army where she specialized in intelligence analysis. Though Donna remained a resident of Indiana throughout her life, she had a thirst for knowledge and adventure which took her on travels around this country she loved so much and many points around the world. She enjoyed the great outdoors and was an avid camper. Those that knew Donna pay tribute to her zest for life and her phenomenal spirit. Donna is survived by a large and loving extended family and circle of beloved friends, including her daughter, Erin Ann Parkhurst Root, her mother, Dorothy (Hardin) Berlin, sister, Laura Kurkowski, and dear friends, Annette Johnson and Debbie Parkhurst and her loyal companion, Jewel. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Root. Memorial services will be at 4:00 pm Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 pm until service time at 4:00 pm.
