Ruth A. Hamilton

Ruth A. Hamilton, 101, of Indianapolis, passed away April 19, 2014 in Chandler, AZ.  She was born March 28, 1913 to the late Henry and Alice (Moehler) Goll in Indianapolis, IN.  She was a homemaker.  She graduated from Ben Davis High School, and married James R. Hamilton on September 20, 1935.  Ruth enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family.  She loved bowling, sewing, knitting and playing cards.  She was active in Girl Scouts, PTA, and volunteered at Riley Cheer Guild for 25 years.  She is survived by two daughters, Marcia S. (Tom) Lake and Sheila (Rick) Schwartz; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her daughter and her husband, Karen and Jon  Shepard; and three brothers, Edward, Robert (her twin), and Kenneth Goll.  Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Tuesday, April 29 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  Entombment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
