Mary F. Acton

Mary Acton, 92, of Plainfield, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed peacefully with her family at her side on July 15, 2008. She was born August 1, 1915 in Brodhead, KY to the late George and Caroline Long. She was a long time member of the Bridgeport Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Acton was a homemaker whose greatest love was her family: having them near and cooking for them. She was preceded in death by her husband Barkley, her daughter Elizabeth Powell, granddaughter Peggy Carlisle and daughter-in-law Judy Acton. Survivors include five children Jim Acton, Robert (Mary Lou) Acton, Betty (Jerry) Cummings, Judy (Wiley) Couch, and Sue (Mark) Groce; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson; a sister Bonnie Denney of Somerset, KY and many nieces and nephews, who fondly knew her as Aunt Mary. Visitation will be Friday July 18, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield. Funeral services will be on Saturday July 19 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Shawn Eldridge officiating. Burial, Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary Acton to the Ruth Lilly Hospice.
