Carolyn J. Sfreddo

Carolyn J. Sfreddo, 78, of Plainfield, passed away March 19, 2014. She was born March 18, 1936 in Indianapolis to the late Samuel and Opal Jacobs. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at Indiana State University. She also was a volunteer nurse at the VA Hospital during the Vietnam War. Carolyn was a member and very active in Plainfield Christian Church Ministries. Upon graduation from Indiana State University she worked as Public Relations Director at Indiana Central College. She was a journalism facilitator and yearbook advisor at Indiana State University and later retired as a teacher from the Indianapolis Public School System. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 22, at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, where friends may call from 11:00 am until service time. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil A. Sfreddo. Survivors include sons, Robert (Shonell) and David (Alison) Sfreddo; daughter, Susan (Ken) Schnepp; brother, Jim Jacobs; 7 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christian Support Center at St. Marks Episcopal Church or George Washington Community High School Athletic Fund.
