Thelma Jean Brinkman, 75, of Avon, passed away March 12, 2014. She was born February 21, 1939 in Indianapolis to the late Wayne and Elma Wilson. Thelma was a member of Ben Davis Christian Church and former member of Avon Christian Church. She was an active community volunteer as well as a founding member of the Women's Auxillary for the Avon Volunteer Fire Department. Thelma retired after 26 years of service from Avon Community Schools. Funeral services will be Monday, March 17, at 10:30 am in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Sunday, March 16, from 2:00 - 6:00 pm. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Jerry Brinkman; son, Gary (Tammy) Brinkman; daughters, Sherri (Marty) Engel and Cindy (Doug) Wagner; sister, Sharon Wilson Hill; brother, Curt (Susan) Wilson; grandchildren, Megan Eakin, Jessica Smith, Chad Brinkman, David Engel, Evan and Emily Wagner; great grandchild, Clark Eakin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Indiana Chapter.
